That Summer Feeling

Yesterday was warm! We had a Saturday off of soccer so we all worked hard to get the yard in shape. The front looks nice and the back, as always, needs more work. The redwoods never stop dropping needles, so those are always everywhere or else in piles waiting for their turn in the yard waste can.

I'm sad that I haven't been blogging! It's mostly an effort to not sit at the computer more than necessary (necessary is writing lesson plans for my CC class or dealing with field trip arrangements). Also, admittedly, Instagram is way easier and provides instant interaction.

We're in the midst of the spring soccer season, SHEMA choir season, and finishing out the year at CC. Isaac has completed his final project, a business plan, for his MBA class and it's been accepted! He's done! He graduates May 20.

Book club days are still one of my favorite days of the month! This month we read The Phantom Tollbooth. Our family is up for choosing the next book which will be April's book. Because we love book club so much, and because I love to get outside, we're starting a Nature Club with some of the same friends. It starts at the end of this month and I'm leading the first meeting. We'll be doing a seasonal observation study at a favorite preserve and then returning there again in summer, fall, and winter to note differences. The monthly meetings in between will be led by other moms.

Evan turns 12 this Friday so we're getting ready to celebrate with friends and family at the end of the week. We've been talking about him being 12 for quite a while so I think we're all set for it! He's turning into a mini teenager in some ways: sleeping in at times; having spells of unexplainable sadness (short-lived mood swings). Also, Buster, the cat we found at the park last fall, has plumped right up, outgrown Molly, and is now 1.

The picture above is last night's dinner. Our neighbors gave us their old patio set and we finally refilled our propane tank for the BBQ so with the warm weather we were able to cook and eat outside last night! We had grilled lemon pepper kebobs with chicken, red onion, lemon, and asparagus; grilled zucchini with feta; and (not pictured) grilled sweet mini pepper with mint tzatziki. It was so good!

Happy Weekend!
