Snow Day 2014

It was snow day on Saturday in Sequoia National Park for us and my dad, Michelle, Jonah, and Emery.  There was just enough snow left to sled, make snowmen, and throw snowballs.

Grandpa comforted Natalie in the shade after she had a little wipeout and got too hot.

Uncle Jonah brought some of his skim boards, which are for the beach, and he and the boys used them rather like snowboards.  The boys loved this!

My mom sent us up the mountain with hot chili and Fritos, apples, cheese, crackers, and Oreos for lunch.  We were all very hungry and it was so, so nice that we hadn't even had to bother packing our own food that morning!  We took a sledding break and ate in the parking lot.  Then the boys headed back to the hill while Natalie and I made a snow family.

You can see that sledding won't be possible for much longer.  This is Natalie heading back over to the big hill.

Jonah and the boys had found this little slope off to the side with untouched snow and the boys were getting pretty good at riding the skim boards down it.

I'm sure our kids would have kept going for the rest of the afternoon, but finally I had to tell them that they each could take two more long runs.  While they took turns doing that, they helped Uncle Jonah build a snowman quickly.

Three happy kids, who finally had their snow day.

I'm so glad we made it up, just in time!
